Message from the Bishop:
Wow is all I can say. Last night was the “Grand Finalie” that capped the best week ever of Equip Camp 2010. The theme, “It’s a jungle out there” sent out a inspiring message to all who attended.
To all of childrens ministry workers, our youth team workers, our S.T.I.M. workers, our adults that were the “cooks” that kept us fed, to the volunteers that helped decorate, to all who supported and came after work to help, THANK YOU from the bottom of our heart.
Friday nights performance was standing room only. They were standing all over the place. Some left because they could hardly get inside the building. We are building at the right time.
Once again thanks so much POLR for having the Vision to take this community, this world to the top. You have definitely made a difference.
Yours for taking someone to the top.

The S.A.L.T. program is made up of select individuals (ages 16-25) who volunteer themselves for one week of ministry to children during the annual LA District Kids Camp. They receive invaluable leadership training by some of the most qualified instructors among us. Plus, they have the unique joy of having touch the lives of children in ways that will impact them for life. This camp is all about serving kids. Having a safe environment where kids can feel the Holy Ghost is the absolute priority.

The SALT team looks for “choice” individuals. They are held to the highest standards of loyalty, honesty, trust, and true Christianity!

There is no other remuneration than the satisfaction of serving God through ministry to children.

Pastor Marty & Sis. Lacey Bonvillain are wonderful examples of God using young adults in a leadership role. Pastor Marty has served the young people of POLR as youth pastor, served on the LA District Youth Committee as Sectional Youth Leader, and was involved in music ministry as a choir member and drummer. Currently, in his role as an under-shepherd pastor, he works on the youth team, teaches the young adult class, leads service, teaches Bible studies, and endeavors to serve the good people of POLR in a variety of ways.

Sis. Bonvillain has been involved in ministry since a very young age. At the age of 16, she began volunteering in the office organizing youth events. At age 17, she was hired part-time in this role. She remained working in the office while pursuing an education in Management. She feels that God has called her to work in this area as a ministry and it is her desire to use that gift to move His kingdom forward. She feels blessed to have a job that is her ministry.

They are excited about a new season of their life and look forward to the joy it will bring as they expect the birth of their son, Lincoln Marital Bonvillain on April 20, 2010.

Have you ever been asked by someone, “What are you called to do? What are your talents or special gifts?” Did you tense up with that question–because you really don’t feel that you have a talent or a special gift? The definition of talent or gift is ‘a natural ability’. Basically, ‘talent’ describes things that are easy for you or that seem like second nature.

The problem is: so many of us compare our talents to others and feel what we have to offer is insignificant. However, God has given each of us unique talents for a divine purpose–and it’s up to us to put them to use in His Kingdom. Maybe your talent is cooking, cleaning, writing letters, taking pictures, babysitting, and the list can go on. Don’t be like the servant with one talent who was afraid to use it. Every talent is important and must be used in order for us to be pleasing to the Master. Think about the two servants who invested their talents. The Master elevated them to do even more for His Kingdom! And note the same commendation he gave to both of them: “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” So, whatever comes natural to you, no matter how small it may seem to you or others, it is a talent that God, Creator of the universe, has given you to use for His Kingdom. “There’s a Place for You” is not just a catchy phrase that we use at POLR. It’s very specific for each and everyone that comes through our doors. In the upcoming weeks, we will be highlighting all of POLR’s diverse ministries. Think and pray about ‘your place’. What comes natural to you that can be used–right here–right now? Where will you fit in the overall vision God is dreaming for POLR? One person can’t do everything, but everyone can do something! So, what are you waiting for? ‘There’s a place for you’!
